Chicago gets first crack at speedy WiMax

The wireless breakthrough WiMax, which connects washing machines and dog walkers to the Internet, was dreamed up years ago and then beset by financial worries. It was revived Wednesday in a sweeping deal between Sprint Nextel and Clearwire that also includes some of the biggest names in technology, such as Google, Comcast, Intel and others.
